Will DeskManager work with my computer?

DeskManager will run best on a computer if that workstation isn't also being used as the office server. If you are running DeskManager on more than five workstations, it is best to either set up a designated server to host DeskManager or ask your Account Representative about DeskManager cloud hosting.

DeskManager Version 11 is not compatible with Windows 98, ME, 2000, Vista, XP, Windows 8 or older versions of Windows. Click here to stay up-to-date on the Microsoft-supported operating systems.

While we do not support running DeskManager from a Mac-based OS, Mac can be used to access DeskManager that is being cloud-hosted. Click here to find out how DeskManager works on the cloud.

DeskManager 11 should be installed only on Windows 7, 10, or newer versions of Windows. Installation on Windows XP is not recommended. In addition, DeskManager requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or higher (4.5 for payment processing). DeskManager can be installed on Windows Server OS (Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, etc.) provided the server is being used to host DeskManager. We do not support any Windows Server OS prior to 2008. Also, we do not support using DeskManager as a workstation directly from a server-based Windows OS.

Does DeskManager print state forms and bank contracts?

We have thousands of forms in our library. If there is a form not included in our system, we can program it for you. Please be aware there may be an additional cost for programming non-official state and bank forms.

Can DeskManager print my invoices and warranty forms?

We can customize almost any form and add it to your system.

Does DeskManager work on a network?

The optional Network Module will provide support for you to run DeskManager over a network.

Will my printer be able to print forms from DeskManager?

DeskManager is compatible with all printer makes and models for report printing. Many forms supported in DeskManager can be printed on plain paper using a laser or inkjet printer. For printing multiple copy forms and legal contracts we require the Okidata Microline 320 Turbo dot matrix printer.

Yes, we offer training for our customers over the phone.

How can I get support?

Our regular support hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays (Pacific Time).

How often is DeskManager updated?

DeskManager is updated daily. Our programming staff is constantly getting feedback from thousands of dealers and our support personnel for improving and enhancing the software.

How does DeskManager on the cloud work?

What happens after I purchase hosting?

First, we’ll process your order/charge you. Next, one of our cloud hosting specialists will call you to do a consultation/gather some data. Once we analyze the workload, our cloud specialist will schedule a time for us to move your data to the cloud.

Will I need an IT person for this?

Generally, our team should be able to do everything we need to do remotely. However, some special cases may be out of scope for our team to handle. You are welcome to have your IT person present during data migration, but not always necessary.

Will there be downtime?

Yes, you will have to stop entering information into DeskManager for a period of time while your important data is being moved. Our team will copy over any photos/documents reports after the data is live to minimize your downtime.

Can I enter data after the migration is done?

There will be a brief period where you will be asked not to add any photos/documents while our team migrates those materials from your old DeskManager. Our cloud migration specialist will inform you when you are clear to add photos/documents again. If the migration of your photos/documents has not been completed by 5pm PST, we will continue where we left off the following day. Once the migration is totally complete, you’ll once again be able to freely enter data.

How long will we be down for?

It depends. Many factors make it difficult to give an estimate of how long your migration will take. We recommend setting aside at least an hour for the migration.

How does the migration work?

We backup the data on your local computer then transfer it over to the cloud. Some of the data, such as photos/documents, will be transferred shortly after the initial migration.

Will my printer work on the cloud?

Our team should be able to support most problems with the Okidata printers we support, aside from manufacturer defects. Most other kinds of printers work without issue, but are not supported by AutoManager and may require an outside IT person.

Note: In order for DeskManager to print from the cloud, a redirected connection must be established every time you start a session; giving your printer a new redirected name. For example, say your local printer’s name is Printer1, your redirected printer name will be something like Printer1 (Redirect X).

Your website says I can only run DeskManager on Windows, what about my Mac?

With DeskManager stored on the cloud, it will be on a Windows machine. You will be using a remote desktop protocol (RDP) connection to access the cloud server. Click here to install Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac.

Our technical support staff can assist with cloud hosting issues on a Mac, however you will need to run a version of our remote support tool that is compatible with Macs. Please be aware that we are unable to offer support on non-hosting or non-DeskManager related issues.

Will WebManager work with my computer?

You should be able to use WebManager with any Windows-based computer that has an internet connection and the latest version of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Opera installed.

Will my WebManager website work on an iPad?

WebManager websites have been designed and tested to be compatible with iPads and other mobile devices.

Can I use WebManager Inventory and other pages with my existing website?

Integrating WebManager pages with your existing website is a snap, and WebManager makes it easy to customize the color scheme and layout to seamlessly match your site. Contact AutoManager support for further information on making WebManager work with your existing website's needs.

Can I redirect my existing domain name to point to the website WebManager automatically creates for me?

Using your existing domain name with your WebManager site is no problem. Contact AutoManager support for further information on working with your domain registrar or updating your DNS information yourself to point to your WebManager site.

If I redirect my existing domain name to point to my WebManager website, can I still receive e-mail using my domain name?

This depends on how your mail service is currently configured. If you currently run your own mail server, changing your DNS information to redirect your domain name to your WebManager website should not affect your mail service.

Does WebManager provide email hosting?

No. There are many free web-based e-mail providers, and e-mail hosting is usually included with most internet services as well.
